Hi All,

just a brief update regarding my Shoe4Africa Fundraising Campaign for the New York City Marathon. For more information please visit my Shoe4Africa fundraising page.

Last Sunday as one of the 50,304 finishers I crossed the finish line in Central Park in a time of 4 hours 23 mins (25,514th place). While there is always room for improvement I am very happy with the result. It was my first marathon post knee operation and I am chuffed it all went well. Despite a headwind of 15mph the temperatures were perfect for running and the support along the route was phenomenal.

Shoe4Africa had a team of 60 runners taking part in the marathon raising vital funds for our hospital project. It was great to meet all the other team members for a ‘shake-out’ jog on Saturday morning around Central Park followed by a pasta party in the afternoon.

More important, thanks to all your generous contributions I managed to exceed my fundraising target and contributed USD 4,112.18 to Shoe4Africa. 100% of your donations will go towards building the Shoe4Africa Children’s Hospital in Eldoret Kenya. The building work is currently in progress with the aim to open the hospital by December 2014. The Children’s hospital will significantly improve health provisioning for a catchment area of 22 million people.

I have been involved with Shoe4Africa for 10 years and your support means a lot to me. Many, many thanks to all of you!

Best regards,
Urban
